Q: What exactly is The Sassy Ass?
A: Get your mind out of the gutter! We are an agrotourism farm in Hillsboro, VA. We are home to a lovable and incredibly charming herd of miniature donkeys and retired senior horses. Think of us as a sanctuary of sass where you can unplug, hang out with four-legged critters, and soak up some farm therapy.
Q: Can I just show up to the farm whenever I want?
A: Absolutely NOT! As much as our herd loves attention, we are not a public park. To keep our critters happy and healthy, visits are strictly by reservation or via scheduled public events. You can book one of our experiences or buy tickets to one of our seasonal events! We can also work with you on creating a custom private event.
Q: What is a "Dubliner & Donkeys Ass-orted Cheese Experience"?
A: It is exactly as glorious as it sounds. It’s our premium curated private booking where you get to experience the farm, hang with the herd, and enjoy top-tier cheese arrangements. Because nothing pairs better with miniature donkeys than an ass-ortment of fine dairy.
Q: Can I bring my dog?
A: No, our donkeys and senior horses are very protective of their farm, and outside pets can stress them out (or vice versa). If you have a service animal please give us advanced notice but note they will not be able to go into the pens with the animals, and you must clean up after them and have them leashed at all times.
Q: What should I wear?
A: This is a real, working farm. We highly recommend closed-toe shoes, boots, or sneakers that you don’t mind getting a little dusty. We understand that you may want to dress up, but remember donkeys take dust baths!
Q: What are your hours?
A: Our hours vary throughout the year. In the summer months expect to only be able to book during the AM hours. More times will be available during the cooler months of the year. We can typically be reached by phone or email from 9-5 weekdays.
Q: Do you sell donkeys?
A: We do not sell donkeys. All of our critters are at their forever home.
Q: Will you buy my donkey?
A: Typically, no. We are happy to talk about rehoming to our farm, but we are not looking to purchase any in most cases.
Q: Can you bring your donkeys to my event?
A: Sorry, we do not bring them to offsite events or do beer burros. Our donkeys are comfortable on the farm, and we want to keep them as happy as possible! Happy to make recommendations for others that provide the service!
Q: Where are you located?
A: We are located in Hillsboro, VA about 1 hour outside of DC.
